Marriott Dalmahoy (built in 1927), one of Scotland’s premier golfing venues, has been the home to many prestigious golfing events over the years. At Dalmahoy you will be treading the footsteps of many of the games great names, including Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman and Colin Montgomerie. Major golf has been played at Dalmahoy since 1962 and in more recent times the European Seniors Tour played the Scottish Seniors Open Championship in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2007.
At Dalmahoy the golf facilities include two golf courses, a 12 bay driving range and additional practice facilities.

Registration is necessary.
Please note: participation is limited to 20 people maximum. So we recommend early registration.

Cost per person: € 57.00 (incl. 19% VAT). Transport to the golf club, catering and equipment for rent etc. are for your own responsibility.


Registration and Welcome Reception, 16:30 - 19:00

The conference will start with a welcome reception for all participants on Sunday, 7 September 2008 from 16:30 to 19:00 in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Drinks and snacks will be served by invitation of the organisers.

You will have the opportunity to check in at the conference office and pick up your conference documents.

Registration is necessary (free of charge).

Poster Discussion/Poster Party

Visit the posters and the exhibition and talk to your colleagues with a glass of beer in your hand. All participants are invited to the poster party which will take place on Monday, 8 September 2008 (from 17:05 to 19:30) in the poster and company's exhibition area.

Drinks and snacks will be served on invitation of the organisers.

Registration is necessary (free of charge).


Wednesday, 10 September 2008 , 20:00 - 24:00

Conference Dinner at  “The Hub”                                                                               hub_innenbild

The conference dinner will take place at  “The Hub“.The Hub is one of the very special locations in Edinburgh in a classic Victorian architecture style. Constructed between 1842 and 1845 and originally named Victoria Hall, it was built as the Assembly Hall and offices for the Church of Scotland. It is located over the heart of Edinburgh, dominating the skyline on the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.

The dinner will start at 20:00. A shuttle bus will run at 19:00 from the EICC main entrance to the "Hub".
Please note: the way back is for your own responsibility.

Please note: seats are limited, so we recommend early registration.

Guided Tours / Sightseeing

Sightseeing Tour of Edinburgh, 18:00 – approx. 19:30

An English-speaking guide will introduce you to Edinburgh’s beautiful sights to give you an impres-sion of the city’s extraordinary flair. As you walk through the old town you will become acquainted with the city’s most interesting streets, squares and buildings and a series of “closes“ or narrow lanes leading off the main High Street and Royal Mile, and contributing to the originality and archi-tectural character of Edinburgh.

Meeting Point: 18:00 at EICC main entrance.

Registration is necessary.
Minimum number of participants: 15, maximum number: 20.

Cost per person: 15.00 € (incl. 19% VAT).

Guided walk to Arthur’s Seat, 18:00 – approx. 20:00

Descend via the Royal Mile to Holyrood Park, to enjoy the marked contrast of Edinburgh’s wildest and largest natural open space, for a guided walk to Arthur’s Seat: an extinct volcano which erupted around 350 million years ago. This unique environment provides wonderful panoramic views over the city and includes the ruin of the mysterious St. Anthony’s Chapel, and several geological points of interest.

Underground Vaults Visit, 19:45 – approx. 20:45

Visit authentic 18th century vaults beneath the South Bridge, find out why they were created and see the unaltered conditions in which real people lived and discover links with the city’s notorious “Bodysnatchers “!

the starting time of the „Underground Vault Visit" will be changed to 19:45 .

If you are interested in a whisky tasting, please contact the conference office. 

Whisky Tasting at the Scotch Whisky Experience, 18:30 – approx. 20.00

The whisky tasting will be suitable for all guests, whether whisky connoisseurs or novices. With knowledgeable whisky experts you will have the opportunity to nose and taste 4 single malt whiskies from the four main whisky producing regions of Scotland; Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside and Islands. You will be tutored through the five stages of “appreciating” Scotch Whisky; colour, body, nose, palate and finish. Whiskies are selected to illustrate regional differences, wood finishes, differing ages of maturation and methods of production. A snack will be served.

How to get there:

Bus
Edinburgh Tour buses stop right at the bottom of Castlehill. Click here to find local buses to the Scotch Whisky Experience.

Car
When entering Edinburgh following signs for “city centre” and “attractions”. You can approach from Johnstone Terrace, The Mound leading to Bank Street, George IV Bridge and the Lawnmarket. The High Street and Ramsay Lane are closed to traffic. On street parking is available on Johnstone Terrace. You can pay with coins in the meter or by mobile phone. There is a multi story car park on Castle Terrace – top level, Kings Stables Road – bottom level.

Train
Waverley train station is located 5 minutes by foot from the Scotch Whisky Experience.

Guided Tours for Accompanying Persons

These tours are provided for accompanying persons who are interested to enjoy a guided full day tour. The minimum numbers of participants will be 16 persons. The fee includes the guided coach tour and the entrance fees for the museums/sights. Catering and souvenirs etc. are for your own responsibility. Full day tour by coach to Royal Yacht Britannia, Rosslyn Chapel, with lunch stop in Haddington

From the Regal to the Spiritual: Royal Yacht Britannia and Rosslyn Chapel
From the starting point at EICC we will travel to the historic port of Leith to enjoy a fascinating visit aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia. This magnificent ship, launched in 1953, was home to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family for 44 years. Britannia has been host to such figures as Winston Churchill, Boris Yeltsin, Rajiv Ghandi and Nelson Mandela.
For having lunch we move on to the picturesque country town of Haddington. After lunch we’ll travel to the charming village of Roslin, site of ancient Rosslyn Chapel, the 'Chapel of Codes', with its templar and freemasonry associations; featured in Dan Brown's blockbusting novel "The Da Vinci Code." Late in the afternoon, we’ll return to Edinburgh and end our tour at the EICC.

Tuesday, 9 September 2008, 10:00 – approx. 17:00

Full day tour by coach to Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument & Crieff Crystal, with lunch stop in Aberfoyle

History, Intrigue, Majestic Scottish landscape and the Craftsmanship of Crieff Crystal:
This morning we’ll travel to the historic city of Stirling – once a Royal Burgh – and the impressive and imposing Stirling Castle. Here you can experience history for yourself within the castle walls and learn of the exploits of William Wallace, Robert Bruce, King of Scots, Mary, Queen of Scots and the legendary Bonnie Prince Charlie.
After our castle visit, we’ll make our way into the Trossachs, famous foothills of the Highlands, and historical terrain of Rob Roy MacGregor, where we’ll stop in the pretty village of Aberfoyle to enjoy lunch.
Our final part of the journey takes us to Crieff in the beautiful scenery of Perthshire, for a visit to the Crieff Crystal Visitor Centre – here we’ll be able to view the art of crystal glass making and the craft of engraving and perhaps take something home to remind us of the visit!
We’ll then return to Edinburgh and end our tour at the EICC.
